You see in the last 10 years I have been with 3 companies that are no longer in business and one that appears to have one foot in the grave. So that's 4 times I have been laid off and each time it gets a little harder on me emotionally. The first company I had been with for 10 years before they had a financial meltdown. After being there so long, it was family and the day the doors closed was very hard. In each instance I have been blessed by the support of my wife and family. This latest time is no exception. Each time before I found a new job within a month, this time it has been different. After 9 months of unemployment I'm still without a full time job. I started freelancing in January and found work right away, in fact at some points over the summer I was so busy, I felt like I needed a project manager to help keep things straight! When things lighten up schedule wise I would work on my portfolio or my website. I had recently interviewed with a big corporation and was told they would bring me in mid October. At the time it was still September and I started to worry about bringing in money the last three weeks before the temp position would start.
Then God reminded me he has plans for me and that he is in charge. I eneded up having 4 projects come in (without going and looking!) and they would amount to 2 1/2 months of pay for 2 weeks work!! During all this time, I have never stopped believing in myself and that God had a reason for me to be where I am. The Lord has his ways. I don't always understand them right away but he has always looks out for us.
I thank the Lord each day for what he provides me, for my children, Kay & Alexa and my wonderful wife Juanita.
God Bless
-Michael
